Why is bilingualism important?

Today, the command of a second language becomes essential to increase the chances of success in the future lives of students. In addition to this, it has been shown that bilingual students show cognitive advantages compared to monolingual students. These skills focus on executive functions, especially in tasks that take advantage of cognitive conflict resolution, perform better control tasks that require selective attention and elimination of interference, among others.

International English Certifications

Davy College prepares its students, so if they consider it, can choose to take the corresponding exam to their level and obtain the Cambridge Assessment English certification.

Cambridge Assessment English certifications are globally recognized and validated by a large number of universities, institutions, governments and companies. Every year, more than 3 million people, from 135 countries, sit for Cambridge University exams.

Davy College offers our students the possibility of certifying their level of English, from grade 2 with the YLE (Young Learners of English) exams, to advanced levels, B2 and C1. Therefore, students are prepared under world standards for the learning of English.

English learning in each school level

Early Years

Students are immersed in English, from an early age, arriving in Kindergarten (5 years) to develop 65% of academic activities in the English language.


At this stage, students are exposed to an average of 15 to 20 hours of academic instruction per week in English, which constitutes approximately 40% of all their activities and / or subjects.


Learning and exposure to English depends on the student's grade level as well as the subjects chosen as part of the International Baccalaureate (IB).
