Oscar Colchado
Poet and novelist, was born in Huallanca, Ancash, in 1947. He lives in Lima since 1983. Previously lived in the port of Chimbote, where he founded the Literary Group White Island and directed the magazine Alborada / Creation and analysis. He teaches language and literature. Among his most important works of fiction include: short stories: Del mar a la ciudad (1981), Cordillera Negra (1985), Camino de zorro (1987), Hacia el Janaq Pacha (1989) y La casa del cerro El Pino (2003).
In young adult novel: Tras las huellas de lucero (1980), Cholito en los Andes mágicos (1986), Cholito en la ciudad del río hablador (1995), ¡Viva Luis Pardo! (1996), Los dioses de Chavín (1998) y Cholito en la maravillosa Amazonía (1999). He also published la novela Rosa cuchillo (1997) y una obra temprana: La tarde de toros (1974). Colchado is also the author of three books of poetry and a bunch of legends for children.
Has received, among other awards, the "José María Arguedas" tale (1978), the "José María Eguren" of poetry (1980), Cope Award (1983), the National Prize of Literature for Children and Youth (1985), Latin American Short Story Award (CICLA 87), the National Education Award (1995), the Premio Nacional de Novela "Federico Villarreal" (1996) and the International Prize Stories "Juan Rulfo" (2002).
In 1992 he was sworn in Casa de las Americas Prize (Cuba). His work in the Andes Cholito magic has been brought to television for the Andean Group countries.
